OBJECT DESCRIPTION

47 Tucanae concentrates on million stars in a space of 120 light years. The mentioned makes NGC 104 the second brightest globular cluster in the sky only outshined by Omega Centauri. If the earth should be located in the centre of the cluster nights should appeared as daylights.

The inside region of 47 Tucanae is a virtual lab of exotics objects like pulsars (neutrons stars rotating at incredible high speeds). The cluster could be a naked  eye object in clear skies locations. Under suburban skies it can be easily seen with binoculars. Because it location – 72:05 dec it can only be better seen in the Southern Hemisphere.  It was discovered by Nicholas Louis de Lacaille in 1751.
