DATA

TYPE: Irregular Galaxy

APPARENT MAGNITUDE: 8.9

SIZE: 21.4 x 6.9 arc minutes

OBJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMAGE SESSION

NGC 247 is a member of the Sculptor Group and is the only one who belong to other Constellation (Cetus) It has a rather smaller apparent size compared with its neighbour NGC 253 and its is located 4 and a half degrees north. It has a low surface brightness and it is presented as a hedge on galaxy. It can be found 2.8 degrees SSE of Beta Ceti (Magnitude 2.03). Due its low surface brightness is visible from dark skies and telescopes with moderate aperture.

The Moon phase was 33%. Too much for imaging this galaxy. It was a windy session and I had to perform the flip after the Luminance Channel
