DISTANCE: 35 Millions light years

 

OBJECT DESCRIPTION

NGC 3628 belongs to the well known Leo Triplet Galaxy Group which includes also M65 and M66. It is the faintest one of its members and it was not captured by Charles Messier. William Herschel discovered in April 1784. The galaxy can be seen hedge on. The dust band across the is distorted probably because the gravitational forces of M66 and M65. The Image was hard to process and more data was needed to bring more detail in the outer regions
