OBJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMAGE SESSION

NGC 5749 is located south of the celestial equator, close to the boundaries of the constellation of Norma. The cluster is poorly populated with little concentration of stars. Its main members  contains stars from 10th to 12th magnitude.

Polarimetric measurements were preformed by the astrophysics Institute of La Plata  on 31 stars of NGC 5749. The study written by Vergne, Feinstein and Martěnez concludes that the light from the cluster stars is affected by several dust clouds on its way to the Sun. Polarization has proven to be a good criterion for determining and confirming the membership of the stars of a cluster.
