OBJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMAGE SESSION

NGC 6822 is a irregular Galaxy similar to the Large Magellanic Cloud and belongs to the Local Group. It ones of the nearest Galaxies after Sagittarius Dwarf and the LMCs. Because of its size it has a low surface brightness. It can be seen through telescopes only in very dark skies. It was discovered by E.E. Barnard in 1884 using a 6 inches refractor. The Galaxy presents several rich structures of HII which is evidence of star forming regions.

The night was not so transparent because the moon was relatively close to the object. Its dim stellar clouds might b washed out by Moonlight.
